greencube works alongside german architects - Baufritz
New Home in Speldhurst, Kent
we were planting last week in our clients garden in Speldhurst, a baufritz house made in Germany. The house was delivered on a few articulated lorries and slotted together with precision. We have really enjoyed working with our clients on this amazing modern project. We worked closely with the baufritz architects and project manager on the submissions to the planning office, gaining planning permission for the hard and soft landscaping. We have been on hand throughout the project offering advice and support to ensure the landscaping project is delivered successfully.
We took delivery of some midi panels of Hornbeam creating an instant hedge and generous green belt around the lower level and rendered wall. We have created a minimalistic planting scheme here with clipped evergreen ilex to form instant cubes, balls of pittosporum, mixed with Panicum and Miscanthus grasses and architectural Yucca's. There are also two raised beds full of herbs and clipped bay trees. We have softened the house with tall Amelanchiers and Pyrus 'Chandicleer' giving instant maturity.
A textural layer has been added with a gabion walls filled with kent ragstone to retain a level change around part of the perimeter of the house.
We have planted phase 1 and will return in a couple of weeks to complete the planting. Unfortunately a delay on the paving from the supplier has delayed progress.
