Tulipa 'Ballerina' looking good and first asparagus harvest

On such a grey wet day the Tulips in our garden look great against the fresh green growth of the herbaceous plants and ornamental grasses. I had a bit of a photography competition with my husband and he won hands down with his macro lens close up, abstract shots! I accept defeat ! Meanwhile I harvested my first asparagus last week, just the one (so exciting) and steamed and tossed it in butter, salt and pepper, from garden to plate in 3 minutes, cutting it into 4 equal portions to share with Mike, delicious. We also harvested our first salad of mixed cut and come again leaves including: Red Russian Kale, Rocket, Chervil, Mizuna and Tatsoi, delicious with a salad dressing of extra virgin olive oil, white wine vinegar with parmesan and pancetta, sown directly outside in March in a raised oak planter in my new kitchen garden. X When you grow your own you really appreciate the freshness and flavour, certainly beats a supermarket bag of mixed leaf any day. Planting and an Outdoor Fire in our Tunbridge Wells Garden almost complete

Its been a busy 6 weeks, having planted 5 gardens out of 8 that are currently booked into our spring schedule as well as completing design work for a large country house surrounded by 3 acres with a design to include large oak gazebo, swimming pool and terracing, surrounded by a lavender field. We are also working on some small projects in Ightham - re-vamping a garden and in Otford turning a dull garden into a Chelsea standard explosion ready for an important summer party. Our clients in Tunbridge Wells are looking forward to enjoying and relaxing in their new garden, we received a lorry bursting at the seams with our chosen plants last week and are expecting three deliveries on Thursday of this week to complete the garden. Our first outdoor fire, gas fueled is creating a wonderful cosy outdoor living room, just draw up the rattan armchairs and sit out into the night.
