Last week I visited two stone suppliers in Milan, Italy and Brussels, Belgium kindly arranged by Rock Unique.
As a garden designer we have a huge influence on what our clients choose for their hardscapes. I'm always looking for lower maintenance, dense stone that can withstand our UK climate, face upto the frosts and our wet weather, deal with a huge range in temperature from -18 degrees up to 28 degrees and look great against the ever changing external facades of our clients new homes as well as the old ones, context is paramount.
A very enjoyable, inspirational two day visit, here's some of the stone I photographed that included Quartz, Granite, Marble, sandstones, slate, Basalt, Travertine, Glass. We looked at Local Bergamo stone as well as stone imported from Thailand, Brazil, China, India, Turkey and Belgium. Gabion cages filled like sweet jars, I really did feel like a kid at a sweet shop! and a visit to the local quarry, I hadn't mentioned I suffer with vertigo!
Actually, I am searching for Stone Suppliers in UK.
