Another busy week for greencube.
Despite it being a short 4 day week after the August Bank holiday we have continued the momentum with our workload.
We have completed a small garden design for a couple in Hawkinge, Folkestone as well as a medium sized garden in Reigate. I visited Wildernesse Golf Club where we have been working with the committee to continue the design works for the courtyard, car park and side access. I picked up a new design brief in Eastbourne a couple of quotes collected for planting in the autumn and we carried out a survey for a small garden in Tunbridge Wells.
Gemma has been working in gardens in Langton Green and my own garden which really helps me keep on top of my plot and so today I mowed the lawn and tended to the vegetable patch and greenhouse. My garden definitely looks like its had the Gemma 'love'. We also visited a nursery to pick up a few plants to complete the planting at our garden in Langton Green.
One of our priority jobs this week has been to apply for planning permission for a large front garden and drive in Sevenoaks, Kent, the house sits within a conservation area and is a listed building requiring three separate applications. I met with the tree surgeon this morning to talk through the tree removal application.
All in all a great week.
What's looking good in late August, here's a few ideas:
Rudbeckia deamii one of my favourites in a herbaceous border for late summer colour.
Echinacea we use both pink variety purpurea and 'White Swan'
Great for bees Eupatorium purpureum
Ornamental grasses mixed with sculptural plants such as Euphorbia wulfennii work really well.
Persicaria great and quick to establish
and in my own garden i have a few annuals grown from seed including Ammi visnaga and Cosmos to fill the gaps and extend the flowering season.
