I've had another busy week, designing a garden for a family in Tunbridge Wells as well as some interesting visits to new clients and existing clients. I have ordered our first autumn planting palettes for September - 1st job in Mersham, Ashford the other in Hartfield in the Ashdown Forest and met a client at a nursery to choose a few key specimen plants for a garden in Sevenoaks, so a busy busy week.
greencube's Sculptural Log Store
Who would want a a standard log store when they can have one of these?
A log store for my wood burner that keeps me warm in winter in my working studio doubles as a sculpture in my meadow garden. I found an image on pinterest, tweeked it a bit and had it made by a local metal fabricator. Clayton and Neil of Quest Landscapes kindly delivered it to me yesterday and concreted the holding post, here's the finished item, a big thank you to Darrin Williams who made it up with mild steel, its already rusting as hoped after the light rain we had last night. I will enjoy looking out at it from my kitchen window. It's a shame the meadow has just been cut as I think it will look even better surrounded by ox-eye daisies, cornflowers and poppies. I'll just have to wait for that!
Good planting combinations looking good at the moment in my prairie border:
Calamagrostis 'Karl Foerster with Foeniculum and Verbena bonariensis
