BALI awards part 2 - Escape To Marrakech

Our garden in Chelsea has scooped a National BALI Award (British Association of Landscape Institute)

Congrats to landscapers LDP (Land Design Partnership) receiving the award.  They executed our design with great skill and attention to detail, great working with you. A difficult build - no access other than through the apartment.

‘escape to Marrakech’

A tiny detailed Victorian basement apartment garden in the heart of Chelsea, only 2.5 metres long by width of apartment 13 metres.

Blending subtle lighting, a tropical planting palette, simple, reflective, muted materials to contrast with Moroccan tiles. Calming influences transpiring to a magical space at night where shadows and patterns cast from bouncing light.

I took it upon myself to visit some key influential gardens and the Souks in Marrakech before designing this garden to best understand my clients requirements and develop my design ideas.

I visited:

Le Jardin secret - Tom Stuart-Smith
Jardin Majorelle - Yves Saint Laurent
Mamounia Hotel
Bahia Palace

I worked closely on all decisions with my client, a jewellery designer, who played an active role in the final dressing of the garden.
